Event designer Annie Lee
has planned weddings for pop stars and Russian princesses—so we knew
that when we asked her to dream up her own big day, it would result in a
sparkling soirée to remember. True to form, Lee mapped out an
avant-garde, black tie affair complete with bold fashion choices (a gold wedding dress by Marchesa!) and glamorous details like art deco-inspired china and a sleek, getaway Maserati. Discover all of her wedding inspiration below.
FANTASY LOOK
Style: Romantic. I love a nonwhite wedding dress. I'd go for something feathery and metallic. (See above!) Hair: Soft and elegant—inspired by La Belle Epoque. Veil: Chapel length, silk tulle, flat top, no trim. Dress Code: Black tie.
INSPIRATION
Movie scenes to steal: The fetes in Midnight in Paris and the ball in The Sound of Music. Design fodder: Wildflower Linens has borderline wearable patterns. I'd build this party around the glittery "Annette Gold" tablecloth to complement the sparkle in my gown. Muse: Grace Kelly. Timeless, iconic, and trendsetting all at once.

Venue: The Venice Opera House. Invite: Ivory ink on black stock by Bernard Maisner, and vintage stamps. Invitation flourish: A mega wax seal. Honored tradition: Waiting until the ceremony to see the groom. Cocktail-hour music: An opera singer. Dance tunes: The Hudson Project, a 10-piece band. Splurge: Film photography. Getaway car: A Maserati with red interior.
