How to Design a Bridal Dress

Designing your own bridal dress ensures that your dress will be one-of-a-kind. Take elements and embellishments from a variety of dresses that appeal to you, then put them together to make the wedding dress of your dreams.
You will look and feel your best on your wedding day wearing a dress you personally designed. You may also save money over a store-bought dress if you sew your own bridal dress or hire a seamstress.

1. Browse bridal magazines and online catalogs featuring bride’s dresses. Cut out or print pictures of dresses that appeal to you for any reason, whether it’s the color, neckline, embroidery, length, cut of the dress, or if the model’s hair is done in the same way you plan to wear yours. Make a note of what inspired you about each dress, then store the pictures in a notebook or file
.
2. Decide on a basic design for your dress. Determine the cut, such as A-line or ballgown, the length and any other elements you know you want.

3. Visit a bridal shop or boutique with your mother, maid of honor or another friend. Try on any dress that seems similar to the design you have in your mind. Ask your guest to take photos of you in the dresses you like and make a note of what you find appealing

4. Add details to your basic design. Sketch out your design, or make notes and attach pictures to illustrate your ideas.
